Our Mission
What we do
Small Community
At AEP, students aren’t just part of a program; they’re part of a community. With our intentionally small program size, we not only get to know all students by name, but also have the possibility to offer personal attention and foster real connections. We work hard to create a welcoming environment where students from all over the U.S. can form lasting friendships and feel a true sense of belonging during their time abroad.
Open Doors
Our office doors are, quite literally, always open. We believe in building trust with our students through a personal, approachable style of support. Whether a student needs help navigating a challenge or simply wants someone to talk to, our team is here to assist, to listen, and to ensure they feel seen and supported. Our office dog Adéla is also always on duty, ready to provide emotional support in the form of cuddles and tail wags.
Safety First
Student safety is our number one priority. From day one, we emphasize personal safety and emergency preparedness as a central part of orientation. We maintain a 24/7 emergency phone line, staffed by a dedicated team of assistants who are ready to respond to any issue, whether health-related, personal, or logistical. We also provide students with a Safey app and mental health. Check our Health and Safety page to learn more about how we support students during their stay.

Understanding Culture Shock
Adjusting to life abroad is a big step, and it’s completely normal for students to feel overwhelmed or homesick at times. For some, this feeling may hit as soon as they land; for others, it might surface after the initial excitement wears off. While it can be tempting to stay in constant communication, it's often helpful to encourage your student to engage with their new surroundings and build local support networks. Rest assured, we are here on the ground to provide them with guidance and care.

Plan for the Semester: A Checklist to Consider

Mail & Packages
All mail should be sent directly to the AEP Office.
Important Shipping Tips:
- Luggage & Large Parcels:
When shipping larger items like luggage, be careful not to overestimate the declared value. Mark the shipment as a “gift” and declare its value at 150€ or less.- If the declared value exceeds 150€, Czech customs will charge Duty + Value Added Tax (VAT) based on that amount.
- Small Packages & Gifts:
For smaller items and care packages, we recommend declaring a value of no more than 45€. Packages with a declared value under 45€ will be Duty and VAT-free.
