At AEP, your well-being is our top priority. While you're focused on learning and exploring, our team is here to make sure you feel safe, healthy, and supported. From daily life in Prague to unexpected challenges, we work behind the scenes to ensure you can make the most of your time abroad.

Medical Care

AEP partners with a trusted network of English-speaking doctors and clinics across a wide range of specialties. We’ve built long-standing relationships to ensure students receive quality care when they need it. If a visit to a Czech-speaking provider is necessary, an AEP team member fluent in Czech will accompany the student to help with translation and provide support throughout the appointment.

Counseling

AEP partners with a counseling provider offering a wide network of English-speaking therapists who specialize in concerns common to students studying abroad. All AEP students have access to up to four sessions at no additional cost during their semester. When needed, we can also arrange in-person sessions with an English-speaking counselor in Prague.

24/7 Emergency Phone

We know that emergencies don’t keep office hours. AEP’s emergency phone is staffed 24/7 by trained, bilingual program assistants ready to support students through any urgent situation. Whether it’s a medical issue, a lost passport, or something unexpected, our team is here to help students navigate them through the process.

SAFEY Travel Safety App

AEP partners with SAFEY, a travel safety app that provides up-to-the-minute safety information about destinations around the world and can be used to communicate instantly with students in a certain geographical area in case of an incident. In this way, we support student safety and wellbeing not only here in Prague, but wherever they may travel during weekends or semester breaks.

Health Insurance

All AEP students are covered by Czech health insurance for the duration of their semester in Prague, making it easy to access care for urgent or unexpected medical needs.

Safe Housing

All AEP housing is carefully selected, inspected annually, and located in safe, well-connected neighborhoods across Prague. We prioritize security and comfort in every apartment, and respond promptly to any safety concerns. All housing includes essential safety features such as fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, and …

Comprehensive Orientation

Preparation starts before students even arrive. AEP provides an online pre-departure orientation with key information to help students get ready for life abroad. Once in Prague, we host a full week of on-site orientation sessions covering everything from health and safety to local culture and day-to-day life—ensuring students feel informed, supported, and ready to settle in.

Committed Team of Staff & Faculty

In addition to the above, AEP’s dedicated staff and faculty are always here to help students feel cared for and connected. We believe in building trust with our students through a personal, approachable style of support. Whether a student needs help navigating a challenge or simply wants someone to talk to, our team is here to assist, to listen, and to ensure they feel seen and supported throughout their stay.

FAQs

Everything you need to know about the product and billing. Can’t find the answer you’re looking for? Please chat to our team.
I have a pre-existing condition. Will the provided health insurance cover it?
No, the provided health insurance only covers medical issues that arise during your stay in Prague. It does not cover pre-existing conditions. If you have ongoing medical needs—such as chronic conditions or old injuries—we strongly recommend arranging additional insurance coverage before arrival. If you’re unsure how to proceed, please contact the AEP team. We’re here to help.
I require special medical treatment or regular appointments. Is that possible?
Yes, absolutely. Please reach out to the AEP team directly, and we’ll work with you to plan the next steps and ensure your needs are supported while you’re abroad.
I take medication regularly. What should I do?
We recommend bringing a full supply of your medication for the entire duration of your stay. U.S. prescriptions are not valid in Europe, and many medications available in the U.S. may not be available in the EU, and vice versa. If it’s not possible for you to bring enough, contact the AEP team before your arrival so we can advise you on your options and assist on a case-by-case basis.
