Ella Sargsyan earned her Ph.D. in Economics and Econometrics from CERGE-EI in July 2024 and subsequently worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Université catholique de Louvain. She currently works in the Credit Risk Modelling Department at ČSOB, where she analyses large and complex datasets and develops and validates risk models.
Since 2016, Ella has taught economics and quantitative methods as both a graduate teaching assistant and an instructor, including courses in Statistics, Econometrics, Development Economics, and Microeconomics. Across her academic research and industry work, she has gained extensive experience with the full empirical workflow: turning economic questions into measurable concepts, evaluating and preparing real-world data, identifying meaningful patterns, interpreting statistical evidence, and communicating results clearly.
Her research has examined how conflict, environmental shocks, and other major disruptions affect economic, social, and political outcomes. By combining experience from academic research, teaching, and applied banking analytics, Ella brings a practical perspective on how data can – and cannot – be used to answer economic questions and support better decisions.
