Silvie Převrátilová is a Czech language teacher and teacher educator at Charles University in Prague. She has been teaching Czech to international students for many years and also trains future teachers of Czech as a second language.
Her research grows directly from her teaching. She studies how students experience and engage with Czech during study abroad, with a particular interest in motivation, emotions, and the role of students’ other languages in learning Czech. She also develops Czech language textbooks and teaching materials.
She believes that learning Czech is not just about the classroom, but also about finding your way in Prague and feeling comfortable in everyday interactions.
