Dr. Václav Brož is an economist specializing in bank penalties and enforcement actions, banking, and inflation dynamics. He currently serves as Lecturer and Coordinator of the Philosophy, Politics & Economics (PPE) Program at the Institute of Economic Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University. Earlier in his career, he worked at the Czech National Bank, including as Head of the Financial Institutions Unit within the Macroprudential Policy Division, where he co-authored the Financial Stability Report and represented the CNB at international fora.
His research has appeared in journals such as the Journal of International Money and Finance or the North American Journal of Economics and Finance, examining topics including the market impact of regulatory penalties, systemic risk in the banking sector, and inflation convergence in the European Union. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Charles University, with an exchange semester in Econometrics at the University of Amsterdam.
